Why remove backgrounds from photos of paintings?
Some paintings, especially botanical illustrations and pet portraits, really shine on the snow-white background.
Maybe you need to cut out an object from a painting and put it in a different image.
Or maybe you want to change the background color of your painting?

Selecting a photo
Open the Remove background tab and select the photo for which you want to remove the background.
Select any photo from the device by pressing the Select photo button, or select the current reference photo by pressing the ⋮ (vertical ellipsis) and then the Use reference photo button.

Trying different background colors
By default, after removing the background, the photo will have a transparent background. But you can also see what your painted object will look like with different background colors.
You can choose the background color by using the color picker next to the Background label.
To return the transparent background, clear the color selection in the color picker by clicking the corresponding button (white square with red diagonal).
Saving the image without background
Press the Save button to save the image with the background removed.
The image you download will have either a transparent background or a background color of your choice.
Adjusting the white balance before removing the background
ArtistAssistApp allows you to adjust the white balance and colors in photos. Learn more about combining white balance and background removal in this tutorial.
